WE’VE MOVED!
FIRM is enjoying our new digs on the top floor of Building 21 in Truman Annex. What a treat to work in this historic building right in the heart of all the action on Front Street. Our physical address is 201 Front St, Ste. 340 but our mailing address remains: 1200 Fourth St., PMB 850, Key West, FL 33040.
WE’RE TURNING 20!
It was in 2006 that a group of neighbors in Key West started comparing their windstorm insurance bills, and were shocked at the increases proposed for the coming year.
“On the evening of February 8, 2006, Fair Insurance Rates in Monroe (FIRM) was born when (Cindy) DeRocher, (Donna) Moody, and thirty-two neighbors got together and compared notes on their insurance rates. None could understand how the increases could be justified.” Sen. Bob Graham, America – The Owner’s Manual, 2010, page 41.
It’s because of FIRM’s work that the 10% cap was put in place on Citizens windstorm increases, and since 2006 Monroe County residents have saved over $760M in Citizens windstorm premiums.
FIRM could never have accomplished its goals without the support of you, the residents of Monroe County. We’ll be celebrating our achievements heading into the 2026 legislative session and beyond. We hope you’ll support us by attending an event, signing up for our newsletter and sharing with your friends or by donating.
