The Florida Legislature started its 2026 session on January 13 and is set to run for 60 days to March 13. Staying on top of the topics that affect our lives helps us make informed choices, speak up with confidence, and adapt to a world that’s always changing. Awareness empowers us, and one way we can do that is to pay attention to the legislation that affects the way we protect our interests and our bank account.

Hang on…this isn’t going to be a dry civics lesson, we just want to share with you a simple way to track only the legislation that matters to you so you can speak up if you see something you like or something you’d like to see go away.

The Florida Senate Tracker is a user-friendly interface where you can track your legislators and legislation in both the Florida Senate and House. Start by creating a free account on the Florida Senate’s log-in page. From there you can see the Senate calendar, info about recent activity and featured links. There’s even a handbook for kids!

Once there you can search for your legislator, search for specific bills, like the two filed by Sen. Rodriguez and Rep. Mooney about changes we’d like to see for Citizens policyholders in Monroe County–SB1024 and HB909. Just go to the senator’s page or the specific bills and hit the track button. You can track bills in both chambers from this site, but you’ll need to visit the Florida House of Representative page to get more information about all the bills that a Representative has filed.

A lot of folks would choose a root canal over following politics, but following the legislative process allows us to anticipate how new rules might affect our rights, finances, or communities, rather than discovering changes after they’re already in place. With that awareness, we can advocate for our interests instead of being caught off guard. You don’t have to get deep in the weeds, just track the things that matter most to you.
