NOAA is predicting an above-average 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, with a potential for increased U.S. impacts. The season is expected to have 17 named storms, 9 hurricanes and 4 major hurricanes–Cat 3 or higher, according to Colorado State University. This is above the 30-year average of 14 named storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes.

Every year we share tips to help you and your family prepare ahead of time so if you do have to evacuate, you have already taken care of the big stuff.

We try to find fresh new ways to tell you how to prep, but the basics never change. However, the FEMA guide below is really comprehensive and even has a myth-busting section so you can quiz your friends and family on hurricane preparedness. Everybody loves a fun quiz!

Make this be the year you become a prepper!
