Christine Hurley, Monroe County Assistant Administrator, was recently named to FEMA’s External Stakeholder Working Group (ESWG). Hurley is one of three Local/Regional Representatives on the 12-person Working Group.

The ESWG provides an opportunity for FEMA staff to increase engagement and transparency with non-federal partners in the Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs at the state, local, community or jurisdiction, tribal, or territorial (SLTT) levels. The Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs provide pre- and post-disaster funding to implement mitigation actions in communities across the country.

Current and past members of the ESWG have credited the Working Group with giving them a greater understanding of the Hazard Mitigation Assistance program and providing insight into how best to serve the residents of their communities.
