An article in The Ledger reports that over 877,000 claims have been filed since Irma made landfall in September, topping out at$7.2 billion with even more claims expected.

The article breaks down the numbers further and lists Miami-Dade as the county with the largest number of claims followed by Broward, Orange, Lee and Collier.  Note that Monroe, with the highest windstorm rates in the state, did not make the top five.

Several Irma-inspired bills have been introduced in the Florida legislature, which convened yesterday.  Some interesting evacuation suggestions are being considered including using a cruise ship to get folks out of the Lower Keys!
