That was Commissioner Altamier’s response to the first question posed to him during an interview with Insurance Journal marking the near completion of his first year as Florida’s Insurance Commissioner.  The term “affordability” is one that is mentioned numerous times in the Florida legislation which created Citizens Property Insurance, and along with concerns about the disparity in the hurricane models, “affordability” is the basis for FIRM’s ongoing legal challenges with Citizens and with the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR).
